This is important in the day of electronic technology.

Who Must Abide With HIPAA?

Anyone that works for a medical center, hospital or even insurance companies is expected to abide to HIPAA. If HIPAA isn't followed there could be serious repercussions. Therefore anyone who works in the medical field needs to learn how to keep information private. Even discussing a patient with another health professional can be a breach unless it is in conjunction with treatment. A doctor can discuss information with another doctor who is on the case. They can't discuss information unless the patient agrees to it if the doctor wants to learn of past health conditions.

Using EMR Safely

There are several programs that now make HIPAA compliance for EMR possible. No longer do you have to take a chance on information getting into the wrong hands. A patient can be certain the HIPAA compliance for EMR will keep their privacy. If a patient doesn't want family and friends to know about their condition they can see to it that it isn't shared. Health professionals will need permission from a patient before information is given to anyone, including spouses, children and parents.

HIPAA Compliance For EMR

HIPAA now has stretched so EMR must comply with the HIPAA rules. If the information is not secure there could be problems for the medical facility. There should be password protection and screen name protection of an EMR. Only specific employees will be able to access EMR information as long as HIPAA is followed and a secure line of EMR is used. Be careful which EMR you use. Not all have secure features to protect information.

As a medical professional you could be responsible if information gets to those that shouldn't have it. A patient and a patient's family can bring a suit against you and your medical center. You could even face criminal charges. That is how important someone's privacy is. Keep all information secure so no one has to worry about information leaking through staff or Electronic Medical Records. Use safe software that is noted to be secure. You can be certain of HIPAA compliance for EMR as long as you are careful and use the correct software.

Brooke (not Brookes/Brooks) Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas

Denzel Washington made an undisclosed donation to Fisher House after touring the one at Brooke. His donation is for Fisher House in general, not a specific one. He also has agreed to serve on the Fisher House board of trustees.

Fisher House is a program that provides special housing at each of the Army's major medical centers for the families of soldiers who are receiving medical treatment, often from being wounded on duty.

Fisher house is either a facility or a group of facilities where family members can stay for no cost or reduced cost, which helps ease the burden of possibly having made a long and expensive trip to be by the bedside of a family member and to make it possible for even low income families to be able to stay close by.

Sounds like you need to find another job. No you won't get social security disability because you have to prove medically that you can do NO work for at least the last 12 months. Also, for FMLA, you have to be under a doctor's care (it's MEDICAL leave)

From the US department of labor website:

"If an employee who provides notice of the need to take FMLA leave on an intermittent basis for planned medical treatment neglects to consult with the employer to make a reasonable attempt to arrange the schedule of treatments so as not to unduly disrupt the employer's operations, the employer may initiate discussions with the employee and require the employee to attempt to make such arrangements, subject to the approval of the health care provider."

"In the case of intermittent leave or leave on a reduced leave
schedule which is medically necessary, an employee shall advise the employer, upon request, of the reasons why the intermittent/reduced leave schedule is necessary and of the schedule for treatment, if applicable. The employee and employer shall attempt to work out a schedule which meets the employee's needs without unduly disrupting the employer's operations, subject to the approval of the [...]

Can you be more specific about "medical facilities?"
There certainly are hospitals, emergency rooms, doctors and so on.
it would help to know the location more specifically as well.

You can find out a lot more information yourself, by doing internet searches using terms such as:
hospitals "valdosta,GA"
That turns up, among other things, several different hospitals in or near to Valdosta.

Use any other type of medical facility, and different town names, in your search and I'm sure you can find out much more quickly than we can tell you.
